Slaves Keep FAQ's
Q: What is Slaves Keep?
A: Slaves Keep ( or SK ) is part of a group of sites linked within the focal called 'The Lunar Circle',
each with a different focusing on a unique aspect of the Otherworldly. It was created by Elder Xyno
to give a home for the wandering Beings that have, until this time, long wished to seek refuge amongst
their own kind. SK in particular has been set aside for those who are immersed in the Lifestyle
designations of the Otherworldly community. As stated in the Slaves Keep Introduction:
"Slaves Keep is the social networking website for Lifestylers.
We are a home for real people across the globe. If you're looking for a place to call home,
a social network that understands you fully, you've found it!
Slaves Keep was designed as an online resource for the the lifestyle community. Our goal is to
database everything under the moon, and then add so much more. This is an immense task and we
have a long way to go. With your help we will become the largest Lifestyle database, resource, and
community on the Internet."
Our sister sites can be found list at TheLunarCircle.com.
Q: Does Slaves Keep have rules?
A: Certainly. Trouble makers, drama, and harassment aren't acceptable. Everyone is to be treated with
respect and their privacy not infringed upon, so please do not be intrusive. We are an open and
accepting community. We do not persecute or approve of bias. No obscenities or other offensive
content is acceptable in word, deed, or in pictures/other content. It is a peaceful haven and we ask that
all members do everything they can to keep it that way.
Q: 'Homepage' What can I do there?
A: On the 'Homepage' one can see the mission statement of SK, log in, view the SK database, who
is following the site on Facebook, select a banner if you wish to post about us elsewhere online to get
the word out and gather more support, see how many people are members of SK and are logged in,
and how much support we have in terms of paid membership toward the Werewolf Con goal.
Q: Is Slaves Keep only for those identifying with werewolves?
A: No. SK is for all Lycanthropes, Shifters, Therians, and Otherkin. We welcome everyone from any
walk of life and any delineation or denomination.
Q: What are the differences in membership?
A: Regular members may join for free but support of this site is appreciated. Premium membership is $25
a year. Lordship membership is $150 but the duration is a lifetime membership and a
special mark next to your name on your profile page.
Q: Where does this funding go?
A: This site was created as a sanctuary for people. It isn't about money but what monetary gains are
acquired by those who upgrade there membership goes for support of this site and, in future, to
the beginning of Werewolf Con, that Elder Xyno would like to put together for both the members
here and others who would feel themselves at home amongst their kindred. More information about
planned events can be found on the public forums, but so far it will include vendors, Werewolf Fashion Show, and a Film Festival. Other
suggestions have been made and will be looked into.
Q: What is the purpose of the sliding panel at the top of the screen?
A: Under the 'Personal Menu' area, one may view or edit their profile, avatar, gallery, and journal. Under
the 'Friend Request' area, one may view current requests for friendship sent by other members of
SK or requests for membership in a Dungeon or House. Under 'Actions', one may update their rank or
upgrade their membership on the site. (See above.) Otherwise, you can add pictures, create journal
entries (which must be at least 400 characters), and otherwise personalize your space to your own
style.
Q: Avatars, Am I limited to those provided?
A: No. The pictures offered for avatars were copyright free and provided by Elder Xyno at the launch of
the site. Anyone can use them. However, if you decide you have another of your choosing that you
feel would represent you best, you may upload it in the 'Edit Avatar" link. It will then ask you where
to locate it, and then upload it. Some pictures may need to be cropped to be an accepted size, but the
option is there is you choose to use it.
Q: How do I create a profile?
A: Using the sliding panel at the top of the screen, select the 'Edit Profile' option. From there, you can tell
people a little about yourself, or even create a personal story. For those who are more HTML savvy,
font color can be changed and pictures uploaded to be included in your profile. And, if you feel there
are song lyrics that you like or describe you, there's an area to add those as well.
Q: What can I do on a profile page?
A: On a profile page, you can check rank, see what Dungeon and House someone is a member of, what type of
membership they have, see what was written when they created their profile, view their wall, send
friend requests and private messages, view personal galleries, journal entries, see when a person joined
and their last log in date and, finally, rate their page and leave a comment to greet them. (Profiles,
Galleries, and Database are all separately ranked so each one must be done individually. If you post
two ratings for one, the last comment will be deleted in lieu of the present one and the current rating
will take president over the former.)
Q: What is the purpose of rank and how do I increase it?
A: The purpose of rank is to give credit for your involvement on the site. At SK, we are pack and
operate as such, and the means everyone contributes to the community. Rank ensures that you not
only reach out to your fellows, but aren't simply sitting in and only chatting. To truly be a member,
one must participate, and as your rank increases, you not only obtain new status but gain the ability to
join Dungeon and House. How rank points are acquired can be found under the 'Update Rank' link in the
sliding panel at the top of the screen.
Q: What is the navigation bar at the top of the screen?
A: The navigation bar at the top of the screen gives links for
the 'Home', "Forums', 'Profiles', 'Galleries', 'Journals', 'Dungeon', 'House', and the
SK 'Database'.
Q: What are these links for?
A: The 'Home' is used for public newsfeed posts that people write. They can be commented on
and 'liked'. It also indicates how many people are members of SK and how many of them are
online at present. One may also view recent log ins who aren't amongst your friends as well as see
current activity by people you have friended. The 'Forums' gives you a link to the SK forums
where you can respond to a threads or post new ones of your own. 'Profiles' are where you can
view all the members of SK profiles whereas 'Galleries' and 'Journals' are the same. 'Dungeon'
and 'House' directs you to the profile pages for those groups and the 'Database' is where all members
may contribute with any information pertinent to lycanthropy. Different categories have been created
and may be added to. We encourage it as we want this to be THE definitive database on the subject.
All entries are subject to Administration approval.
Q: What if something isn't listed or I have an idea?
A: There is a 'Suggestions' thread in the forums. If you have an idea, post it here. We are constantly
trying to improve this site and would be glad to hear it.
Q: How do I deal with SK site problems?
A: There is a thread listed as 'Problems' in the forums. If there is an issue, post it here and please let
us know. If it is not dealt with immediately, please give it time. We ask that you understand that
Administrators are people too and all things will be addressed as soon as possible when time permits.
Thank you.
Q: How do I use the 'Chat' function?
A: The 'Chat Bar' is on the lower right side of the screen once you log in. The panel will indicate how
many people that you know are online. Clicking on the panel will open the list, showing your friends.
A green dot next to their name indicates them being online. Orange that they are idle. Red that they
are online but busy, and Grey that they are not online. To begin a session, either search for someone
using the search option, or simply click on the name of the person and a box with their name, status,
and other options will appear. Click the text box and begin typing from there. If message does not
instantly appear, wait. If not at all, sometimes you must re-send them. On the original panel there
is a gear symbol to adjust your personal settings; such as your present online status, a quote, and
options for chat box sounds and pop ups. Finally, if holding more than one conversation, instead of
multiple boxes appearing, one will see arrows appear to either side of the present name. Clicking these
switches between those you are speaking with and permits you to find the new messages left. Those
are indicated by a pink number that appears over the name of the sender.
Q: Is there a Private Message system?
A: No. Not at this time, though one is planned for the future. However, even is someone is offline, you
scan end them a message either through the 'Chat Panel' or via the 'Send Message' option on their
profile page. A member will receive that message the next time they log in and, if they choose,
respond.
Q: What is the bar across my lower screen?
A: Well, the chat function is the furthest right. However, starting from the left, it gives members multiple
options such as to return to the Homescreen, visit SK chatrooms, see announcements, translate the
page into another language, or simply share SK with others on Facebook or Twitter.
Q: What are the types of Forums?
A: There are multiple types of Forums. There are those public forums that are open to everyone to both
post and respond on. These include the 'Community Forum', the 'Events Forum', the 'Fun and Games
Forum' and the 'Personals Forum'. Each has a different purpose but can be accessed by anyone
whereas Dungeon and House Forums are only able to be viewed by Administrators and those within the
membership of that specific group. Otherwise, one may click on any given thread, read through, and
choose to write a response. Or, dependent upon one's mood, one may begin a new thread all their
own. Dungeon and House forums run in a similar fashion, but, as stated, are not open to everyone. Those
can be found by selecting the Dungeon or House links at the top of the page, finding your group, and then
clicking on their crest to enter their respective profiles.
Q: What are the Dungeon and House?
A: The Dungeon and House of SK are individual groups that exist within the community entire. Each
Dungeon and House has its own area for members. They may be found by clicking on those links in the
navigation bar at the top of the screen. All have their own crest, a listing of Dungeon and House Elders and
Leaders and the number of members in that group. Clicking on their crest will show you their profile
page where you can see who the members are, read the Dungeon/House Description and the Dungeon/House story.
If a particular group resonates with you, and a member finds themselves of a similar alignment, then
they have the option of choosing the Dungeon and House that they feel suites them best and may request
permission from the leaders to join them.
Q: Can I join more than one?
A: One Dungeon and one House may be selected by the member. No more than that.
Q: How do I gain admittance to Dungeon and House?
A: The admittance standards, in terms of rank, are listed in the 'Update Rank' link in the sliding panel at
the top of the screen. However, it is advisable – though not mandatory – that you speak to the Elder/
Leader of either and get to know them. They can admit you even without doing so, but everyone here
is like a family, and simply admitting people who either don't share similar values or that you don't
feel you can trust would be awkward and disruptive for that member, the leader, and the Dungeon or pack
Entire. If interested, the best course is simply to send a message to whomever the leader is and state
your interest in joining that group so they can contact you.
Q: What if certain standard links can't be viewed?
A: This difficulty is mostly found on netbooks and other small screen devices. Try adjusting both
the 'zoom' of your internet browser when it views the page and the font size. It should take care of
almost anything.
Q: Is SK adaptable for IPads, smartphones, tablets, etc?
A: Not at this time. Perhaps in future, but not now.
